The Juncker plan will initially guarantee Italy two billion euros by 2015 to finance new loans to SMEs and two infrastructure projects for the motorway network (Autovie Venete and Pedemontana). Il Sole 24 Ore writes it today, recalling that the project conceived by the President of the EU Commission plans to unlock investments in Europe for a total of 315 billion in three years thanks to the guarantees of the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI).
"At the MEF, with the MIT (Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport) we are working with the EIB and CDP for infrastructure, we plan to bring the two projects for the motorway network to approval by October (ed. Autovie Veneto and Pedemontana) - he said yesterday Stefano Scalera, adviser to Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan -. Through the EIF and the Italian banks we aim to support SMEs, as part of the Juncker Plan. We have also started joint projects with France and we plan to start with Holland as well to finance cross-border operations with EFSI guarantees. Finally, we are studying new bilateral projects with Germany to jointly obtain funding under the umbrella of the Juncker Plan”.
So far, however, the only resources that have arrived in Italy thanks to the Juncker plan are the 100 million lent by the EIB to Acciaierie Arvedi to modernize the plants, an operation that has mobilized funding for a total of 227 million.
