Pernigotti becomes Turkish, Diadora becomes Italian again

The financial company of the Moretti Polegato family (owner of Geox) has purchased the Diadora brands for China, Hong Kong and Macao for 9,2 million dollars - The Averna family, on the other hand, has signed an agreement to sell the entire Pernigotti capital to Sanset of the Toksöz family

Pernigotti becomes Turkish, Diadora becomes Italian again

Pernigotti begins to speak Turkish, while Diadora back to being all Italian. The historic Italian sports brand has acquired the Diadora brands for China, Hong Kong and Macao from Win Hanverky, an industrial group listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange, for 9,2 million dollars. The operation required a capital increase of the company fully subscribed by Lir, the holding company of the Moretti Polegato family (owner of Geox) which in July 2009 had acquired the assets of Diadora with the aim of saving and relaunching the brand.

“With this acquisition, Diadora is once again a totally Italian brand – commented the president, Enrico Moretti Polegato -. Diadora, already present in more than 60 countries, with this operation continues its challenge of international expansion and is ready to conquer the Chinese market, offering millions of consumers products characterized by technological excellence and Italian design". In four years, the group has achieved an aggregate turnover of 200 million euros with an Ebitda of 5,7 million euros.

Meanwhile, for one brand that returns, another leaves: the most famous gianduiotti in Italy go to one of the main groups in Turkey. The Averna family, owner of the homonymous giant that produces the renowned amaro, has signed an agreement to sell the entire capital of Pernigotti to the Sanset of the Toksöz family, which has an annual turnover of around 450 million euros and operates in the food, pharmaceutical and energy sectors. Pernigotti's production activity takes place in Novi Ligure, where the company employs around 150 people. 

“We will maintain and strengthen the current structure, developing the business in new and interesting geographical areas, exploiting the strength of the Pernigotti brand. We will introduce Pernigotti to the Turkish market as well as other important countries,” said Ahmet and Zafer Toksöz. 

“In recent months we have been the subject of strong interest from the main domestic and foreign operators – declared the Averna family -. We are pleased to entrust Pernigotti to the Sanset group of the Toksöz family, solid and determined to act with a view to continuity and development".
