For now, the clowns are not sinking either the Stock Exchange or the BTPs, but the markets remain vigilant in the case of Italy

"Come on the comedians" says the cover of the Economist with photos of Berlusconi and Grillo, but so far Italy has held up both in the auctions of government bonds and in the spread and partly also on the Stock Exchange: however, there remains a special observation for the risks of ungovernability - Flat calm on the markets - Wall Street hunts Mason, the founder of Groupon who loses 24,3%

For now, the clowns are not sinking either the Stock Exchange or the BTPs, but the markets remain vigilant in the case of Italy

SPREAD DOWN, PRICE LIST RECOVERING: APPARENT CALM IN THE STOCK MARKET. WALL STREET HUNTS MASON, THE FOUNDER OF GROUPON -24,3%

"Come on the comedians" as Elisabeth Taylor sang. The Economist, regardless of the indignation of Giorgio Napolitano, uses the same image of Peer Steinbrueck, leader of the German SPD: today the weekly will come out with the cover photo of Grillo and Berlusconi below, precisely, the title "send in the clowns ”.

It's useless to blame: a harmless teasing is better than a shower of sales on Btp and Piazza Affari, which, except for Tuesday, did not happen. After all, the position of the patron of Luxottica is certainly not isolated even in the world of Big business Leonardo Del Vecchio. "I don't think Grillo is dumber than the ones we've had so far." Luxottica  meanwhile, yesterday, in Piazza Affari  earned 3,62%. The markets, at least, for now, seem to give time to Italian politics.

The FtseMib index of Piazza Affari rose by 0,6%. The yield of the 10-year BTP fell to 4,73% e the spread narrowed to 328, down 6 basis points. London gained 0,5%. The increases in Paris and Frankfurt (+0,8%) and Madrid +1,1% were stronger. Outside Europe, calm is almost flat on the Stock Exchange. Tokyo climbs 0,25%: consensus is strong around the appointment of the new governor Haruhiko Kuroda, who will have the mission of raising the inflation rate from 1 to 2%, by resorting to injections of liquidity. Meanwhile, China is slowing down: the manufacturing index falls to 50,1 points, below forecasts.

Wall Street closes in negative ground: the Dow Jones loses 0,15%, the Nasdaq scores -0,07%. The S&P fell 0,09%. The awaited data on US GDP for the fourth quarter greatly disappointed expectations, reporting a growth of only 0,1% against the +0,5% expected. But investors have not made a tragedy of it, also because the nasty surprise was partially offset by last week's decline in applications for unemployment benefits, which fell to 344, against the expected 360.

Changing of the guard in Groupon -24,3%: after the negative results of the quarter (and the collapse of stocks) founder Andrew Mason leaves the leadership of his creature with immediate effect: in the next few days the board will appoint a new CEO.

It is probable that, before entering into new negotiations, the Board of Directors of Telecom Italia Media on March 4th will have to formally declare the exclusivity with Cairo Communication lapsed. Urbano Cairo himself lets it be known that he is finalizing the details of the final offer in the light of the last few meetings.
