PepsiCo will spend 18,4 billion baht (equivalent to 461 million euros) to expand its business in Thailand. The expansion project, which will take place between 2013 and 2015, will see the collaboration of DHL as a new distribution partner.
The plan includes the completion of a plant in the Amata City Industrial Estate of Rayong, the strengthening of the distribution network, brand support and personnel training. Thailand is Southeast Asia's largest market and a growing engine in PepsiCo's brand expansion in Asia-Pacific,” said Jagrut Kotecha, general manager of the beverage business at Pepsi-Cola (Thai) Trading.
The group's investments in Thailand are also part of a plan to stimulate consumption growth in emerging and developing markets which last year generated revenues of US$22 billion, up steadily from US$8 billion in 2006.
In a recent market research, 73% of Thais indicated Pepsi as their favorite brand. The beverage group entered the Thai market in 1952.
