From 13 to 16 November 2014 the most important fair dedicated to photography will be held in Paris: Paris Photo. International appointment for enthusiasts of the fascinating world of photography. Over one hundred exhibitors from all over the world are the protagonists of the next photography appointment, the best of the best of the photographic image, with works by consecrated photographers such as John Gastel, hosted by the PHOTO&CONTEMPORARY gallery in Turin.
The master will be present with some black and white shots that belong to the cycle of images taken inside the swimming pool of the Foro Italico in Rome, published in 2008 by the weekly Vanity Fair. Formal elegance and natural refinement are just some of the characteristics of Giovanni Gastel's work, which is associated with a balanced composition that draws inspiration from art and its history. In this case, the art of reference is the Italian art of the middle of the last century. In fact, the mosaics by Giulio Rosso that adorn the covered swimming facility, designed by the architect Costantino Costantini, portraying divers and swimmers in plastic poses, act as a backdrop and contrast with the sinuosity of the models' bodies.
Other names of interesting artists and world galleries make up the corpus of this 2014 edition, while the program includes a series of special events such as: The Platform (Talk and Conversation) organized by Urs Stahel, curator and independent writer. This initiative intends to test a forum for an open discussion around photography for an exchange of opinions and developments. four days of events open to the public and opportunities for readings, conversations and art projects: a real discussion on today's photography.
The program also offers a whole series of events in collaboration with international museums.
