Panama Papers: Berlusconi, Galliani and Briatore emerge

Another hundred Italian names on the list of Panama Papers. After the first list, l'Espresso is preparing to publish the names of other Italians who appear in the documents stolen from the Mossack Fonseca firm and for whom the Panamanian lawyers allegedly set up offshore companies: among the most famous stand out Silvio Berlusconi, Adriano Galliani and Flavio Briatore, as well as Emanuela Barilla, shareholder of the homonymous group and Stefano Pessina, manager of the global pharmaceutical industry.

Adrian Galliani and two other managers who at the time of the company's creation, in 1989, were part of Fininvest (Giancarlo Foscale and Livio Gironi), are the owners of an off shore company called Sport Image. Stray, on the other hand, is a safe again made up of the Mossack Fonseca studio which both Silvio Berlusconi and Flavio Briatore allegedly used. It was made available to them by the English lawyer David Mills, creator of the 775 million euro offshore system "on behalf of the head of Fininvest". There Sports Image International about twenty years ago he ended up at the center of a judicial investigation for illegal payments to some AC Milan players, by Ruud Gullit and Marco Van Basten.

AC Milan's CEO duly denied the press rumors circulated today, declaring through his lawyers that "The article that appeared today in the newspaper La Repubblica, as an anticipation of a report that will be published tomorrow in the weekly L'Espresso, is clearly misleading in relation to Adriano Galliani”. The company subject to the rumors, explained Galliani's lawyers, for which their client played the role of one of the directors, was held by Fininvest in a regime of total transparency, duly declared and consolidated in the financial statements and set up only for reasons of operational practicality with foreign subjects. The unfounded inferences, therefore, presented with great prominence will be the object of the most appropriate actions.”

Emanuela Barilla, shareholder of the Mulino Bianco group together with the brothers Guido, Luca and Paolo, would instead set up an off shore company in 2014 in the British Virgin Islands, the Jamars International. Stefano Pessina, a long-time resident of Monte Carlo, according to what L'Espresso anticipates “together with his partner Ornella Barra, controls an off shore with an at least original sign. It is called Farniente Holding”.
