Open Fiber and Hera have signed two contracts which provide for the implementation of the fiber optic infrastructure in the municipalities of Modena and Imola.
The contracts represent the first results achieved within the collaboration agreement signed last October by the two companies, which already contained the conditions for the structural intervention at Imola, now defined in all its parts, as well as for the development of new synergies extended in the meantime also to Modena.
Open Fiber will therefore be able to count on the 300 kilometers of network infrastructure (150 per municipality), managed in the territories by the multi-utility, for ultra-broadband installation activities in the municipalities of Modena and Imola.
In detail The development plan of Open Fiber in Imola provides for an investment of approximately 8,5 million euros for coverage of the cities within 18 months of the start of the works. The first construction sites were opened last autumn. In total, almost 25.000 building units will be wired through approximately 10.000 kilometers of fibre.
The contract signed with the Hera Group constitutes an important stage for the finalization of the agreement with the Municipality of Modena, with which contacts and institutional meetings are underway to define the details of the project for the city.
Thanks to the collaboration with the Hera Group, manager of network services in the area, Open Fiber will use where possible cable ducts and already existing underground network infrastructures to limit as much as possible the impact of excavations on the area and any inconvenience for the community.
Lastly, the agreement between Open Fiber and the Hera group for the two territories provides for a concession for the use of the network infrastructures for a period of twenty years, possibly extendable for another twenty, in addition to the technical contribution by the professionals of the multi-utility for the realization of the project.
