Extra virgin olive oil, the legal representatives of 7 large Italian companies are under investigation

Carapelli, Santa Sabina, Bertolli, Coricelli, Sasso, Primadonna (packaged for Lidl) and Antica Badia (for Eurospin): these would be the seven Italian oil-producing companies that ended up in the crosshairs of the Turin prosecutor Raffaele Guariniello who, after the report of Test Magazine, a periodical specializing in food, sent the carabinieri of the Turin Nas to collect some sample bottles in the Turin supermarkets .

The result of the first tests, of which the Ministry of Agricultural Policies was also informed, is that the oil sold by these companies, among the best known on the Italian scene, was not extra virgin but was sold as such. To put it in technical terms, the product sold on the shelves was category "2", that is simple "virgin oil", less valuable and above all less expensive,

Therefore, seven legal representatives of the oil companies involved ended up in the register of suspects, on charges of fraud in trade. The oils in question have all been produced in Tuscany, Abruzzo and Liguria, although now the investigations will continue to make further checks on the origin of the olives.
