Holland will ask for one more year to bring the deficit below 3% of GDP in 2014 instead of 2013. This was announced by the Dutch finance minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem, speaking (as president of the Eurogroup) at the European Union conference on monetary union.
Holland has always been considered one of the most virtuous countries in the euro area and has stood out several times for his orthodox line on the control of public budgets. Holland has a deficit/GDP of 4,1%, which according to the European Commission should drop to 3,6% in both 2013 and 2014 (therefore remaining above the limit of 3% for the next two years as well).
