The Pd-M5s government was only sworn in this morning, but is already working on some burning dossiers.
During the first council of ministers held in the afternoon, on the proposal of the new Minister of Economic Development, Stefano Patuanelli, the Government has decided to exercise golden power over some dossiers concerning TLC companies.
The newly appointed ministers examined the notifications presented by Vodafone, Wind (Huawei supplies) and Fastweb (Zte supplies) on contracts entered into with companies that sell 5G technology. The Council of Ministers has established the green light conditional on compliance with certain provisions.
The exercise of the special powers concerned in particular the purchase of goods and services related to 5G by the main companies in the sector: Linkem, Vodafone, Tim, Wind Tre and Fastweb. The provisions established by the CDM will also have indirect consequences for Huawei and ZTE.
In detail, regarding Linkem the exercise of the golden power was established on contracts and agreements "concerning the purchase of goods and services relating to the design, construction, maintenance and management of networks relating to broadband electronic communication services on 5G technology and acquisition of high-tech components functional to the aforementioned construction or management", reads the note released by the CDM.
The involvement of Vodafone it is due to the "agreements concerning the purchase of goods and services for the construction and management of electronic communication networks based on 5G technology". Similar decision for Tim, concerning "the agreements concluded before 26 March relating to communication equipment and systems with respect to which 5G technology can be considered a natural evolution".
Golden Power linked to the purchase of goods and services for 5G networks also for Wind Tre, while for Fastweb the exercise of powers concerns the purchase from ZTE Corporation "of the equipment relating to the radio components for the construction of the last section of the 5G FWA network".
