Snow and frost, still inconvenience throughout Italy: it snows in the capital and it is immediately chaos

Italy increasingly in the grip of frost which, according to forecasts, will persist at least until mid-February. Yesterday the first victim also arrived in Milan (in Europe there are over 140): a 50-year-old clochard. Temperatures continue to drop dramatically (the peak is expected between Saturday and Tuesday), with a peak of -29,8 degrees on Monte Rosa. Meanwhile, the snow has arrived in Rome, initially only at the gates of the city, then also in the centre, which from the Colosseum to the Spanish Steps is all whitewashed. Yesterday Mayor Alemanno had ordered the closure of schools for Friday and Saturday in advance. Severe inconvenience on roads and highways and in Tuscany, where in the province of Siena there was a blackout of the Enel network and over two thousand families were left without electricity. Improve the situation for the trains, regulate that of the airports.

VIMINAL – In consideration of the bad weather warning in the regions of the Center "of the severe forecast framework, motorists and professional drivers are advised not to travel to the central Italy area, given that the extension of the disturbance from the Tyrrhenian to the Adriatic and its persistence make stretches of motorway carriageway unavailable and are determining, already from the early hours of this morning, the application of the snow plan, with the preparation for commercial traffic of long stops in areas located at a distance from the snowfall area". This is the invitation of the Viabilita' Italia structure of the Ministry of the Interior.

TRAINS – This morning Trenitalia communicates a situation of return to normality on the entire railway network, with the only exceptions in Lombardy, for a theft of copper technical material in Milan Rogoredo; in Romagna and at the Bologna node, areas still affected by very cold temperatures; and in Lazio, due to heavy snowfall on the Rome-Cassino line. No critical issues for the Frecciarossa on the Milan-Naples axis.

PLANES - Despite the heavy snowfalls, the situation at the airports is regular: all airports are open, except Forlì which will reopen on Friday afternoon. Delays are few and only in some airports in the north, but air traffic is essentially regular.

HIGHWAYS – The situation in the North is improving, while the Apennine motorways between Lazio and Abruzzo are in check: the A24 and A25 are closed to heavy vehicles at all toll booths. The greatest hardships occur between Carsoli (L'Aquila), Tagliacozzo (L'Aquila), Avezzano (L'Aquila) and Torano (Rieti) and Sulmona (L'Aquila) with schools closed throughout the Marsica area. Inconvenience also on the A14 between Cattolica and Termoli and between San Severo and Cerignola, on theA1 between Roma Sud and Ceprano and on the A16.

TUSCANY – Night in the dark for 1.500 families in the province of Siena, after that yesterday, Enel's users were blown up throughout the Region by over two thousand, some of which repowered before midnight. A table was set up with the Civil Protection to coordinate interventions to reach more inaccessible areas and the Civil Protection itself set up reception centers in Monticiano (in the gym) and Iesa (in the Rsa structure).

SOCCER - The League has ordered that the weekend will be without nights in Serie A. Rome-Inter has been postponed to Sunday at 15 pm, while Milan-Naples, initially scheduled for Sunday at 20.45 pm, will be brought forward to 15 pm, together with all the other matches (bad weather permitting).

EUROPE – According to estimates, they are more than 140 victims of the cold throughout the continent, most of which in Eastern Europe and in particular in Ukraine, where the thermometer has dropped below -30 degrees and the deaths confirmed to date are 63. Cold temperatures and snow even in the main capitals: Paris -10, London -7, Berlin -14, Moscow -24, Madrid -8, Brussels -11.
