Shops, bars, restaurants and hairdressers: Phase 2 in sight

Not May 4th, but the 18st May and June 1. These are the two dates to mark on the calendar for the reopening of shops, bars, restaurants, hairdressers, barbers, beauty centers and massage centres. She confirmed it Sunday evening the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, illustrating at the press conference the decree that kicks off Phase 2, that of the reopening after lockdown total imposed by the coronavirus pandemic and a first easing of travel restrictions. To avoid the immediate rekindling of the infections, the operation will take place as gradually as possible: on 4 May we will start only with the building, manufacturing and building construction sectors, after which - for the subsequent green light - it will be necessary wait two weeks, to allow the authorities to assess the impact of the first reopenings on the progress of the epidemic in the meantime.

So let's see what the reopening calendar is for the most common activities, those to which everyone normally turns in their daily lives.

SHOPS

For shops and commercial establishments in the broadest sense, the reopening date is moved two weeks later than the start of Phase 2: not on the 4th, but on the 18st May. No one will resume on May 11th because - as requested by the Technical-Scientific Committee - at least 14 days must elapse between one wave of reopening and another, the maximum incubation time of Covid 19, so as to have clearer data on the consequences of each measure.

Between now and May 18, shopkeepers will have to equip themselves to adopt the measures set as a condition for reopening to the public:

  • sanitation of the premises;
  • installation of disinfectant gel dispensers;
  • creation of distinct routes for getting customers in and out, so as to guarantee the minimum distance of at least one meter.

Finally, when the time comes to reopen, in the premises up to 40 square meters will be admitted only one customer at a time.

BARS AND RESTAURANTS

There is something new for bars and restaurants starting May 4, but it has nothing to do with the reopening. These establishments, which have so far remained open only to offer home deliveries, will also be able to sell from next week takeaway products. takeaway, to put it in English. “But let no one think that gatherings can form in front of the refreshment post,” Conte specified on Sunday evening. In other words, food can be bought and taken home, but it cannot be consumed in front of the premises.

As for the actual reopening, bars and restaurants are at the bottom of the list: in fact, they will have to wait for the third and final step of Phase 2, the one that will start from June 1. Even then, however, it will not return to normal immediately, but it will be mandatory to respect a series of anti-contagion rules:

  • almeno one meter between customers at the counter;
  • almeno two meters between the tables in the hall;
  • few diners for each table;
  • gloves and mask for waiters, cooks and bartenders.

HAIRDRESSERS, BARBERS, BEAUTY CENTERS AND MASSAGE CENTERS

Even hairdressers, barbers, beauty centers and massage centers will be allowed to reopen from June 1, i.e. four weeks after the end of the total lockdown. The reason is easy to understand: activities that involve direct contact between customers and staff involve a high risk of contagion.

In these cases, therefore, the preventive measures to be taken will be even stricter:

  • sanitation of the premises;
  • use of disposable materials;
  • masks and gloves not only for the staff, but also for the customers;
  • you can go by appointment only;
  • one customer at a time in premises up to 40 square meters;
  • almeno two meters away between stations in larger venues.
