Diocesan Museum of Milan, all appointments from September to December 2013

Closed until 9 September for maintenance, the Diocesan Museum of Milan will reopen on Wednesday 11 September with the inauguration of the permanent exhibition of sculptures from the Walter Fontana Collection.

This collection will present, among others, the large sculpture depicting Pope Paul VI, a large bronze made by Floriano Bodini in 1968, which will call all visitors to a renewed attention to the farsighted words of Giovanni Battista Montini, former archbishop of Milan, refer to the relationship between contemporary art and the sacred.

The exhibition program of Diocesan Museum of Milan will continue, from 3 October at 24 November 2013, With the first Milanese anthology of Venturino Venturi (1918-2002), singular protagonist of the twentieth century who lived an intense creative season right in Milan. The exhibition, curated by Paolo Biscottini, produced by the Diocesan Museum of Milan and by Banca Generali, in collaboration with the Venturino Venturi Archive, with the support of Anima Sgr, will present 59 works, including sculptures, papers and sketches, created by the Tuscan artist between the mid-XNUMXs and the end of the last century.

A new section of the Museum will be inaugurated in the autumn which will house the Antonio Sozzani Collection. It is a collection of drawings from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth century created by the Milanese banker with the advice and historical-artistic consultancy of Giovanni Testori. This important legacy will allow the Diocesan Museum to also celebrate the extraordinary figure of Testori, twenty years after his death.

As stated by Paolo Biscottini, director of the Diocesan Museum, "inaugurating a new section and remembering a great Milanese like Testori means believing in the future and in the mission of a museum that has been engaged for 15 years in the construction of artistic itineraries that help the visitor question the profound intrinsic meaning of art”.

In parallel with the exhibition season, from 20 at the 22 September 2013 the cloister of the Diocesan Museum will host the CHILDREN'S CLOISTER, a fair dedicated to children and their education. 40 exhibitors, including museums, associations, nursery schools, gymnasiums, language, dance and art schools, will have the opportunity, through direct contact with children and their mothers, to tell their business and services. In addition, games, workshops and shows dedicated to children.
In October it will be the turn of CLOISTER AT THE FAIR  twigs 17 20 to October 2013, the market exhibition of high craftsmanship, where the protagonists will be the most qualified productions not only from Milan and Lombardy, including art, craftsmanship, gastronomic specialties and the various botanical and nursery varieties.

From 13 15 to December the appointment with CHRISTMAS IN THE CLOISTER is back. The lights and colors of the most magical festival of the year will light up the Diocesan Museum, to welcome the excellence of Italian food and wine, decorations, cribs, poinsettias.
