Mongolia, the first car factory

It is called “Ecobus LLC” and it is the first factory ever opened in Mongolia for the production of motor vehicles. Controlled by Nomin Holding LLC, a Mongolian group that operates in various sectors (food, clothing, insurance, electronics and large-scale distribution), Ecobus LLC produces ecological buses with eco-diesel engines that comply with the European Euro 4 standards on polluting emissions. The buses are of a new generation not only in terms of engines, but also in other features, such as the possibility of paying for tickets by credit card.

During the inauguration ceremony of the factory, the President of the Mongolian Republic Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj hailed the opening of the plant as the beginning of a new era for the national industry and in particular for the public transport sector. “In recent years” he continued “I avoided attending inauguration ceremonies to cut the fateful red ribbon, always making the excuse of having more important things to do. If I'm here now it's because I'm convinced that it's my job to publicly support those who introduce important innovations into our country".

Speaking more generally of the evolution prospects of the production sector in Mongolia, the president observed that “for a long time we believed that it was necessary to import almost everything from abroad, from the clothes we wear to many of the foods we eat. Now, however, we have learned to create opportunities to establish production in our country". Lastly, to encourage the fledgling company, Tsakhiagiin recalled that many of the car manufacturers that have made world history began in a garage with no more than two or three employees.
