The Tetraktis Percussion Ensemble is one of the most active and prestigious formations at a national and European level, which includes concerts and masterclasses in Italy, Europe, the United States and Africa in its curriculum and live performances on radio broadcasts by RAI Radiotre and the New York radio WNYC. The concert programme, of extraordinary sound impact and tonal variety, combines transcriptions of pieces taken from the great nineteenth-century repertoire (such as Rossini's Italiana in Algeri and the famous Flight of the Bumblebee by Rimsky-Korsakov) with pages by important contemporary composers, such as Steve Reich, Carlo Boccadoro, Giovanni Sollima and Alessandro Annunziata, who have often entrusted the first performances of their works to Tetraktis.
In over twenty years of activity Tetraktis has followed a path which, originating from contemporary music of classical derivation, has come to meet many other languages, including ancient popular music, Jazz, Pop. The main artistic choice that guides the group's path is the will to use its own set of instruments (by vocation the richest of all instrumental families) without setting barriers of genre; on the contrary, looking for the most varied and unusual encounters.
The 2014-2015 concert season of the Friends of Music is promoted and managed by the Friends of Music Association of Modena, with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Modena Foundation, the Banca Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna and the Emilia Romagna Region and the financial and organizational support of the Municipalities of Modena, Nonantola, Spilamberto , Castelnuovo Rangone and San Cesario sul Panaro.
