After a week of respite, with temperatures dropping throughout Italy, at the weekend the temperatures will begin to rise again, with possible thunderstorms and scattered showers, in view of the hottest weeks of the summer. Starting Monday, the maximum is back, with peaks of up to 38 C.

In detail, Saturday 21st will be a sunny day in almost the whole country. According to 3BMeteo, scattered clouds are forecast close to the Alps, Pre-Alps, Pedemontane and Piedmont, with some brief showers or thunderstorms between the afternoon and evening, especially in the Alpine circle and western Piedmont. Isolated thunderstorm outbreaks not excluded also on the central Apennines and in particular on the Abruzzo massifs.

On the rest of Italy, good weather and an increase in temperatures are expected, especially on the Tyrrhenian coast and on Sardinia.

Similar predictions also for Sunday July 21, where the sun should shine over most of the country with clouds and possible thunderstorms close to the Alps, Pre-Alps and foothills, central-eastern Alps. Rain possible also in the Dolomites, Carnia and Tarvisio between the afternoon and evening hours. 

There will be a further increase in temperatures on Sunday, especially in the Centre-North. The hottest cities will be Rome, Florence, Bologna and Rome with 34C.

From Monday the African anticyclone will take over throughout Europe. Scorching sun and temperatures soaring up to 38 C in the Centre-North.
