Merano (BZ) – The artistic direction of Merano Arte 2016 changes

Christiane Rekade he will move to Merano in the summer of 2016 and from January 2017 he will be in charge of the Merano Arte exhibition program to all intents and purposes, conceiving and organizing exhibitions and events attentive to both international and regional cultural expressions, and paying particular attention also to the artists' production emerging.

An important aspect of Christiane Rekade's program will be the dialogue between the artistic realities of the German-speaking area and the Italian one. The involvement of the regional scene will remain an important aspect of Merano Arte.

“I am interested – says Christiane Rekade – artists who make their ideas and visions visible. Visions that can be limited to involving even very simple and banal aspects of daily life but which, despite this, have the ability to make us see reality in a different light. I really like actively collaborating with artists in the realization of their projects”.

After fifteen years of management, Christiane Rekade replaces Valerio Dehò, whose expertise, commitment and international profile have made it possible to propose projects of great interest. Valerio Dehò's contacts with numerous Italian gallery owners and collectors have made possible the creation of relevant personal and group exhibitions and the involvement of many internationally renowned artists.

Valerio Dehò himself will curate the first exhibition scheduled for the new year at Merano Arte: "GESTURES - Women in action". From 6 February to 10 April 2016, the exhibition will present a selection of works that retrace the most significant expressions of female Body Art from the XNUMXs to today. They range from the works of some of the most important exponents of Body and Performance Art active since the Sixties and Seventies, such as Yoko Ono, Marina Abramovic, Valie Export, Yayoi Kusama, Ana Mendieta, Gina Pane, Carolee Schneemann, Charlotte Moorman, Orlan, more recent experiences of artists such as Sophie Calle, Jeanne Dunning, Regina José Galindo, Shirin Neshat, Silvia Camporesi and Odinea Pamici.
