Mediobanca announces that it has reached the climate neutrality thanks to a project to offset its CO2 emissions. In this way, the institute continues, the achievement of the objective of reducing its environmental impact included in the strategic plan to 2023 has been brought forward.

"The neutralization initiative, promoted in collaboration with the non-profit technical body Rete Clima, allows the Group to cancel its residual greenhouse gas emissions, equal to 5.618,81 tCO2eq in the 2019-2020 financial year, thanks to the acquisition of carbon credits generated by environmental protection projects in developing countries - reads a note - In particular, the Mediobanca Group supports an electricity generation project from wind power, contributing to the creation and operation of the largest wind farm in the Philippines, with a total energy capacity of 150 MW (Burgos Wind Project): this is a project that meets the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals relating to renewable electricity generation, job creation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions included in the 2030 Agenda.

This certified international project is accompanied by the local forestry commitment with the donation and maintenance of 1.000 trees, which will be planted by the Bank's employees in the Milan area between spring and autumn 2021.
