Mediaset and Google make peace after 8 years

The agreement "aims at developing the digital presence of Mediaset content through a partnership with YouTube and Google Play" – Il Biscione had filed a lawsuit against Big G in 2008, asking for 800 million euros in compensation for the publication of 65 video products on Youtube from the TVs of Cologno Monzese.

After 8 years of legal battle, Mediaset e Google make peace. The two companies announce "a significant collaboration agreement, which opens up new perspectives in the relationship between the two players". The agreement "aims at developing the digital presence of Mediaset content through a partnership with YouTube and Google Play". Furthermore, "a joint strategy is launched for the protection of content in order to ensure maximum protection of the publisher's copyright".

Il Biscione had filed a lawsuit against Big G in 2008, asking for 800 million euros in compensation for the publication on Youtube (monitored by Mountain View) 65 videos produced by Cologno Monzese TV stations. The Berlusconi family group, in particular, contested Google for having earned unjustly (thanks to advertising), letting users upload and view 65 Mediaset-produced videos on YouTube. For this reason, the Cologno-based company was asking for compensation of 500 million euros in addition to 100 million for each year, for a total of 800 million.
