Mastercard Inc. is an American multinational company operating in the financial sector. Mastercard is involved in payment services and facilitating electronic funds transfers around the world. Its primary activity is to process payments between merchant banks and card-issuing banks that use “Mastercard” branded debit, credit and prepaid cards to make purchases.

Mastercard, together with the rival visa, are the leaders in the payments industry.

It is headquartered in Purchase, New York. Global Operations Headquarters is located in O'Fallon, Missouri.
