Libya, Renzi: no military forcing

The premier rejects the pressure from those who would like an Italian military intervention in Libya immediately and calls for prudence, specifying that our country's moves in Libya will be decided after the formation of a legitimate Libyan government and passing through Parliament

Libya, Renzi: no military forcing

Prudence and common sense are needed for Libya: therefore no to an Italian military intervention with your eyes closed. This is what the Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, reiterated once again today, inviting words and deeds to take measures.

A possible Italian military intervention in Libya, which is not on the agenda today, can be decided - Renzi clarified - only if the legitimate Libyan government requests it and only if there is a vote to that effect by Parliament.

In short: first a political strategy for Libya to be agreed at a European and international level and only after any military interventions.

Renzi also confirmed that our two compatriots who were kidnapped and then released yesterday in Libya will return to Italy in the next few hours.
