According to the German newspaper Handelsblatt, next week the International Monetary Fund will correct its estimates of global economic growth downwards. For 2012, in fact, the +3,4% of the previous forecast will go down to +3,3%, while that for 2013 will drop to +3,6%, from +3,9%.
As regards the Eurozone economy, on the other hand, the IMF forecasts a contraction of 0,4% for this year and a slow growth, of 0,2%, in 2013. The estimates of the China, from +8,4% to +8,2% in 2013, and Brazil, +4% instead of +4,7%. The Indian economy rose, +6,6% against the +6% previously estimated.
According to the IMF there is a sharp increase in downside risks, given the global economic situation, and prospects will depend above all on the "decisive political steps to stabilize confidence" that can be taken in Europe and the United States.
