Leonardo will supply four AW139 twin-engine helicopters to the Fire Department of Miami-Dade County, the most populous county in the state encompassing an area of ​​more than 2.000 square miles with one-third of the land located in Everglades National Park. This was announced by the company which informs that the contract was signed today, December 2 and establishes the delivery in the third quarter of 2020 of aircraft that will be used to carry out various missions including, in particular, firefighting, air ambulance and search and rescue operations .

The aircraft will be equipped with special equipment, including recovery winch, gravity hook and fire bucket.

"In addition to the supply of the helicopters - explains the company - the agreement also provides for a complete package of support, maintenance and training for 5 years, with the possibility of a further extension for a total of 15 years".

For Leonardo, the AW139 is the most successful helicopter program worldwide in the last 15 years, with over 280 customers in more than 70 countries.
