Work, Ubi Banca awarded Top Employer 2018

Flexibility with respect to the workplace (smart working), punctual and constant training, specific plans of
introduction of new hires ("onboarding") and professional growth, the possibility of dedicating oneself to corporate volunteering initiatives: these are some of the UBI initiatives in favor of employees who, as part of an overall analysis of working conditions and the activities carried out in the management of the people who work in the Company, earned the banking group led by Victor Massiah the Top Employer 2018 certification.

Data collection and recognition are carried out by the Top Employers Institute, an international certification body which since 1991 has evaluated companies worldwide on the basis of the best practices implemented in favor of employees in terms of training, talent enhancement, professional and career paths and benefits.

Training hours are growing

UBI Banca has paid particular and growing attention to the training of its personnel. Technological evolution, innovation of products, services and organizational and distribution models require continuous training throughout the working life, for the maintenance and growth of human and professional capital. UBI Academy – the Group's Corporate University – studies, plans and delivers training proposals for the development of technical-professional knowledge and managerial skills and for the affirmation of a distinctive corporate identity in terms of culture and professional ethics.

To this end, the Ubi Group has involved personnel in organizational well-being initiatives aimed at consolidating the culture of collaboration, organizational communication, involvement and sharing of corporate knowledge, for a total investment of almost 80.000 hours of training in 2017. A specific effort in this direction has involved both the employees of the banks acquired in 2017 and new hires in recent periods, with a dedicated training program called "onboarding".

In particular, the "onboarding" path includes a reception day, called "Welcome Day": a moment of sharing the company's values and mission, in which new recruits have the opportunity to meet and discuss with the Group's Top Management . In 2017, the onboarding process provided for a total of over 10.000 hours of training, doubling the result of 2016 (about 4800 hours).

Smart working: a consolidated approach

In addition to continuous training, the change taking place in banks requires another ingredient: new methods and greater flexibility in work management. UBI Banca's response was to renew its commitment to the Smart Working project, launched in 2015. In 2017, UBI Group employees benefited from over 4.000 days of "smart working" compared to 2.760 days in the previous year, with an increase of 45%, in constant growth since 2015.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, UBI employees worked in places closer to home, thus avoiding travel by car or public transport, but maintaining dialogue with colleagues and managers, also using the new instant messaging and corporate social network solutions introduced by the Group.

Among the objectives that UBI Banca intends to pursue through smart working are the reconciliation of private and professional life and the continuous renewal of the corporate culture, promoting the creation of a more flexible work environment, also through the empowerment of each employee.

Corporate volunteering

Responsibility, not only in the workplace, and employee awareness of the needs of people and the local area. This is the heart of the "Un Giorno in Dono" initiative, through which for three years UBI Banca has been offering employees a company volunteering project: each employee of the Group has had the opportunity to "give away" a day off to be used one of the 150 projects promoted by 70 non-profit organizations spread throughout Italy. In 2017, around 1100 employees joined, who carried out over 8.700 hours of volunteer work; for each day the Bank donated the equivalent value to the organizations chosen by the employees themselves.

These results, together with various indicators, such as leadership development, performance management, professional and career paths, compensation and benefits policy, corporate culture, definition and assignment of social and environmental objectives in the evaluation of the performance of the Group Top Management, led the Top Employers Institute to assign UBI Banca the title of Top Employer again for 2018, together with the 90 companies awarded with the Top Employers Italy certification.

“The policies and tools for the development and management of Human Resources in UBI Banca are inspired by the valorisation of people according to criteria of fairness and merit, with attention to permanent training, continuous growth, deepening of skills, balance between life private and work, but also to social awareness in the context of specific interventions on the territory” he says Mario Napoli, Human Resources Manager at UBI Banca. "The fact that our Human Resources policies have been reconfirmed among the Italian excellences by the Top Employers Institute, for the fourth consecutive year, is an important recognition for us and an incentive to continue the good work undertaken in this direction by the Group" .
