Work: over 447 thousand hirings expected by companies in March

In March, businesses planned further 447.000 contracts, with approx 1,4 million expected for the March-May quarter. This represents an increase of almost 30.000 units compared to March 2023 (+7,1%) and approximately 112.000 units compared to the same quarter of 2023 (+8,7%).

Le revenue forecasts in the service sectors they are growing (+10,5% in the month and +11,4% in the quarter), driven above all by expectations in tourism (+16% in the month and +14,3% in the quarter) and in trade ( +14,6% in the month and +17,2% in the quarter). The flow of hiring in companies construction is positive, with an increase of 2,7% compared to March 2023 and 7,4% compared to the corresponding quarter, despite a decline of 1,5% compared to February 2024. Manufacturing companies, on the other hand, show uncertain signs, with a 1,6% contraction in hiring compared to March 2023 and a modest 0,2% increase in the quarter. Tourism main source of opportunities, mechatronics doing well

in this manufacturing sectors, which overall are looking for over 85.000 workers in the month and 249.000 in the quarter, the industries of mechatronics offer the greatest opportunities with around 23.000 workers in the month and 66.000 in the quarter, followed by industries metallurgical (18.000 and just over 50.000 respectively) and by the food industries (11.000 and 33.000). In construction, 49.000 hiring contracts are expected in March and 146.000 until May. In the tertiary, companies intend to activate approximately 313.000 employment contracts in March and over 992.000 in the March-May quarter. The represents the main source of job opportunities with approximately 82.000 workers sought in the month and 299.000 in the quarter, followed by trade (65.000 and 194.000 entries respectively) and personal services (49.000 and 154.000).

The hiring rate of difficult to find still remains high, although slightly lower than February, reaching 47,8% of the total, mainly due to the lack of candidates for open positions. The most difficult profiles to find on the job market include skilled workers (64,6%), the plant operators (54,3%) ei runners (54,2%).

Le hiring of immigrants expected by the companies are 85.000 units (equal to 19,1% of total hirings), with an increase of 8,5% compared to March 2023. The companies that plan to hire more foreign workers operate in the sectors of operational support services ( 33,7%), transport and logistics (28,4%) and construction (25,2%).

In March, most hiring is still done via fixed-term contracts (239.000 units, equal to 53,4% ​​of the total), followed by permanent contracts (91.000, equal to 20,4%) and those in administration (41.000, equal to 9,2%).

Work: the North-East struggles to find profiles

From a geographical point of view, the mismatch registered by businesses in the North East, where approximately 52,9% of the profiles searched for are difficult to find, with peaks of 57,1% for Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Companies in the North-West report a difficulty in finding 47,9% of the requested profiles, followed by those in the Center (45,9%) and Southern Italy (44,5%).
