in first seven months of 2016 the balance between hires and terminations of employment relationships in Italy amounted to +805.000, lower than that of the corresponding period of 2015 (+ 938.000), but higher than that recorded in the first seven months of 2014 (+ 703.000). This was communicated by INPS in the latest edition of its Observatory on the precariousness of the private sector.

In July, the difference between hires and terminations over the months is +488.000, including seasonal reports. For permanent contracts, the annualized balance in July 2016 was +541.000.

Le recruitment in the period January-July 2016 were 3.428.000, with a reduction of 382.000 units compared to the corresponding period of 2015 (-10,0%). Overall hirings also include seasonal hires, equal to 408.000.

The slowdown in hiring mainly concerned permanent contracts (-379 thousand, -33,7% over the year) and should be considered in relation to the strong increase in permanent hirings recorded in 2015, according to the institute, when the full reduction of contributions paid by the employer for three years was envisaged. Conversions to permanent contracts also decreased (-36,2%). For fixed-term contracts, in seven months, there were 2.143.000 hires, in line with 2015 (+0,9%).

In relation to the same period of 2015, the terminations overall, also including terminations referring to seasonal employment relationships, are decreased by 8,6%. The reduction is more consistent among permanent contracts (-9,1%) than among fixed-term contracts (-6,9%).

Lastly, 2016 million were sold in the period January-July 84,3 voucher intended for the payment of ancillary work services, with a nominal value of 10 euros, with An increment, compared to the seven months of 2015, of 36,2%. In the seven months of 2015, the growth in the use of vouchers compared to 2014 was equal to 73%.
