Jobs: offers are booming, but candidates are scarce

Le job offers grow up in Italy. In the fourth quarter of 2021 there are around 505 positions to be filled, but in over a third of cases (36%) companies are struggling or unable to find candidates. According to the analysis based on Excelsior data, services and commerce are in the front row, with 322 expected admissions (64%), followed by industry with 182 (36%). This is what emerged from an analysis of the Foundation for Subsidiarity, who edited the 2021 Report on sustainable work.

In detail, the current year will close with a record in the search for new roles by companies: in the first half of the year there were around 650 thousand, while in the second half of the year there was a strong acceleration, with over 1 million of new positions available.

However, companies are struggling to find staff to hire. Among the most sought-after figures are skilled workers, but also highly specialized managers, professionals and technicians. One of the reasons that makes this "hunt" difficult is the lack of candidates or the poor qualification, referring to the tasks or sector. Computer professionals, engineers and commercial officials are highly sought after. The search for executives also returns. Furthermore, again according to the analysis, most of the jobs are in the North, while those looking for work live largely in the South.

The job offers are focused on websites. From 2015 to March 2021 there were over 2 million 650 thousand online searches on about twenty portals that aggregate job advertisements on an ongoing basis. Finally, the Report identifies 8 sectors in which there will be a strong demand for labor in the coming years: energy; transport infrastructure and sustainable mobility solutions; environment; bioeconomy (sustainable agriculture and fishing); telecommunications, digital technologies and services; research, development and innovation; tourism; social economy (training, assistance, culture, health).

“The economic recovery is finally pushing the creation of new jobs, but we need to overcome old rigidities – he observed George Vittadini, president of the Foundation for Subsidiarity -. Work is transforming: today it is more and more a journey and less and less a place. In the last 5 years, all professions have changed, enriching the skill set by over 30%. For this reason, many specialist figures cannot be found. Development must therefore be supported with active policies that favor mobility and continuous training".

  1. There are candidates, but the companies don't respond because they are all fake job ads. Whoever made these statistics believes the lies that the companies tell in these ads, so the result of this statistic is distorted
