Istat sees consumption growth in the first quarter

The National Statistical Institute said today that in the first quarter the recovery will continue at a “moderate pace”, with an estimated increase in GDP of 0,1%, thanks in particular to the contribution of private consumption. This is indicated by the monthly note on the performance of the economy, according to which the data will be included in a confidence interval between -0,1% and +0,3%.

“To the increase in GDP private consumption would contribute positively, against a negative contribution from net foreign demand and public consumption, while the dynamics of investments (gross of inventories) would be substantially flat”, explains the note in more detail.

Istat has also intervened on work, with a study on the impact of the measures on the choices of companies, according to which tax relief boosted employment in 2015, more than the Jobs Act. relevant. Even the new contract with increasing protections seems to have played a positive role, albeit to a lesser extent".
