Istat: large companies employed in June -0,1%, -0,6% over the year

Gross wages per hour worked decreased by 0,9% compared to May, while it increased by 0,1% compared to June last year. Adjusting for calendar effects, there was a 0,7% trend decline in the number of hours worked per employee.

In June, employment in large Italian companies fell by 0,6%, compared to the same month in 2010, gross of employees on redundancy funds (cig) and by 0,2% net of the latter. Net of seasonal factors, it decreased by 0,1% compared to May, gross of employees on redundancy pay and remained unchanged net of employees on redundancy pay. Net of calendar effects, there was a trend decrease in the number of hours worked per employee of 0,7%. The weight of cig hours used is equal to 28,3 hours worked per thousand, thus marking a contraction of 4,8 hours per thousand compared to June 2010.

Gross wages per hour worked (net of seasonal factors) fell by 0,9% in June compared to the previous month. In comparison with June 2010, the gross salary per employee (net of employees in cig) increased by 0,1% and labor costs by 0,4%. In the January-June period, the gross salary per employee increased by 1,2% compared to the same period of the previous year, while labor costs increased by 1,4%.
