In May, according to preliminary estimates, the national consumer price index, gross of tobacco, decreased by 0,1% compared to the previous month and increased by 0,5% compared to May 2013, a slowdown compared in April (+0,6%). The Istat detects it.
The slight drop in inflation - explains the Institute - is mainly attributable to the deceleration of the growth on an annual basis of the prices of services relating to transport and to the accentuation of the decrease in the prices of unprocessed food. This trend is partly offset by the trend increase in the prices of non-regulated energy goods (down in the previous nine months).
The prices of the shopping cart, on the other hand, are at a standstill in May. Istat also notes this, according to which the prices of products with a high frequency of purchase do not vary compared to the previous month and grow by 0,5% compared to May 2013 (the same value recorded the previous month).
