The Intesa Sanpaolo group was awarded the Green Globe Banking Special Direct Impact Award, which recognizes it, once again in 2013, the status of first "green" banking group thanks to its commitment to sustainability, in line with national standards and international.
Intesa Sanpaolo won the important recognition thanks to the presentation of the project "Almost 0 energy branch". The structure, which is located in the Venice Marghera site, has an energy requirement mainly covered by renewable sources. The same branch was the subject of interventions that reduced energy consumption by 65% (kWh/year), allowing it to obtain energy class A certification.
Marco Fedeli, representing the Scientific Committee of Green Globe Banking, expressed the motivation for the recognition to Intesa Sanpaolo: "Intesa Sanpaolo's project is a concrete demonstration of the company's will to consider environmental protection a strategic objective to be pursued by anticipating the European Directive which envisages the construction of almost zero-energy buildings starting from 0. The foresight of a leading institution such as Intesa Sanpaolo is not only a strong signal to the entire banking world in terms of environmental protection, but it is also a concrete way to develop elements of new corporate competitiveness through the economic resources generated by energy efficiency, reduction of consumption and waste".
