Intesa Sanpaolo supports Italian cinema and audiovisuals with 5 billion

Intesa Sanpaolo he made available five billion euro a support for cinema and audiovisual productions Italian companies that represent an important economic resource for the country capable of generating a multiplier effect on the connected supply chains of tourism, design and fashion. The new funds add to the over 2,4 billion in loans already dedicated to the sector since 2009.

The intervention is part of the Group's initiatives with 410 billion euros available to the real economy for the construction of objectives of the PNRR.

Promote the consolidation of the Italian audiovisual industry

THEEntente goal, in line with the Culture 4.0 objective of the PNRR, is to favor the consolidation of a solid Italian audiovisual industry, vector of Italian image and culture abroad and a tool for promoting Made in Italy. The cinema and audiovisual sector it involves over 15.000 companies and generates almost 200.000 jobs between direct and indirect, in particular young and female work, also registering an interesting propensity to export. The Italian film industry is in fourth place in Europe for labor productivity and is growing at a rapid pace, especially towards digital platforms and channels, which have entered their decisive season after the pandemic.

“The entire cinematographic sector constitutes a resource capable of generating a important multiplier effect for the Italian economy. With this further intervention we renew our commitment with financial support that in just over a decade exceeds a total of 7 billion euros, in a key to the development of the audiovisual and entertainment sector that marries the objectives of the PNRR. In fact, there are many transversal areas that the production chains of the sector can activate, in terms of digital and sustainable investments but above all in terms of attractiveness and attention to inclusive issues. Our support aims to promote the recovery of competitiveness and the opening to the global market of an economically relevant sector with enormous strategic potential for Made in Italy and for tourism, through the enhancement of meanings, identities, iconic places and brands that speak of Italian excellence in the world” he explained Virginia Borla, Executive Director Business Governance Banca dei Territori Intesa Sanpaolo.

Intesa Sanpaolo for cinema

Thanks to the Media & Culture specialist desk, Gruppo Intesa has financed the production of over 580 films and TV series national and international, as well 150 commercials, factual and TV formats. Intesa also has consolidated relationships with many operators in the sector such as Majors, independent Studios, Broadcasters and OTTs, favoring foreign executive productions in Italy and generating a positive impact in terms of employment and fueling the professional growth of the sector. Among the main foreign productions arriving in Italy in 2022 are those of Fast and Furious 10, Indiana Jones, Equalizer 3 and Gossip Girl.

At the last David di Donatello prizes were awarded for “Esterno Notte”, produced by The Apartment (Freemantle group), “Settembre”, produced by Groenlandia (Banijay group) and “Nostalgia”, produced by Picomedia and all supported by Intesa Sanpaolo. In the coming days the Group will be alongside the film "The sun of the future" by Nanni Moretti, competing for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

  • Lamborghini – The man behind the legend, dedicated to the story of Ferruccio Lamborhgini
  • Ferrari, international production on Enzo Ferrari, directed by Michael Mann
  • Milan: The Inside Story of Italian Fashion, on the history of Italian fashion
  • Los Angeles, Italy Festivals (for the sixth consecutive year) created by Istituto Capri nel Mondo with the Ministry of Culture and ICE, which introduces the night of the Oscars and promotes Italian cinema in the world.
