Intesa Sanpaolo perfects with Nexi: 1,1 billion capital gain

Intesa Sanpaolo and Nexi have finalized the agreement announced last December, concerning digital payment systems. The agreement provides for a long-term and exclusive partnership, and the transfer to Nexi of the Intesa Sanpaolo business branch concerning the acquiring activity, currently carried out in over 380.000 points of sale; while the bank will keep the sales force dedicated to acquiring new customers. The operation yielded one to Intesa capital gain of approximately 1,1 billion euros after taxes in the consolidated income statement in the second quarter of 2020, which includes the effect attributable to the difference between the purchase price of 9,9% of Nexi's share capital and the corresponding value resulting from the stock market listing of Nexi shares.

But this is not the only news today from the Intesa Sanpaolo universe. Meanwhile, the bank led by Carlo Messina has received a important acknowledgment on the cybersecurity front. According to AIPSA, the Italian Association of Corporate Security Professionals, Intesa Sanpaolo finished in first place in the competition dedicated to "Cyber Resilience amid a Global Pandemic", in which the major Italian companies took part. The Intesa Sanpaolo team successfully passed all the safety challenges, closing the test with 1.800 points, with a considerable gap - 400 points - from the runner-up.

Last but not least, the Assoreti data on managed savings collections in May have been released, from which it emerges that the Fideuram group (Fideuram, Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking and Sanpaolo Invest SIM) ranks first since the beginning of the year for net inflows with over 4,6 billion. In the month of May alone, the group led by Tommaso Corcos for a few months totaled 1,8 billion in net inflows, of which 780 million in net inflows from managed assets. The entire Italian market speaks, again in May, of positive net inflows of 4 billion euro: collection volumes achieved in the month increased by 28,1% in quarterly terms and by 47,6% in trend terms.

“In May – commented Corcos – the Fideuram – Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking networks achieved over 1,8 billion in net inflows, with a important contribution from the asset management component. An exceptional result which demonstrates, once again, how our model based on professional consultancy and the creation of a long-term relationship of trust between clients and Personal Financial Advisers is capable of dealing with any market condition.
