Intesa Sanpaolo: 3.500 hires and 7.200 voluntary exits

Intesa Sanpaolo reaches a new agreement with the unions. The institute announced that, as part of the acquisition of Ubi Banca, will hire another thousand people in addition to the 2.500 already envisaged from the trade union agreement of 29 September signed with Fabi, First/Cisl, Fisac/Cgil, Uilca and Unisin.

In the meantime, adhesions to the voluntary exit proposal with early retirement or use of the Solidarity Fund - which, according to the agreements, had to be at least 5 thousand - they reached 7.200. They will all be accepted by Intesa Sanpaolo, which therefore, in the face of a higher than expected number of exits, has accepted the request of the unions to also increase the number of recruitment, to be completed by the first half of 2024.

"The effective continuation of the integration process of Ubi Banca into the Intesa Sanpaolo group is thus confirmed and follows the trade union agreement signed on 30 December 2020 regarding the treatment of the 5.107 people included in the business unit to be transferred to Bper Banca - concludes the note – In the next few weeks the trade union procedure will be launched in relation to the merger by incorporation of Ubi Banca into the parent company Intesa Sanpaolo”.

"By hiring a thousand people, in addition to the 2.500 already planned, we are giving a further boost to generational turnover and support for employment - he said Charles Messina, CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo – We continue to invest in young people, the country's strong point. In a context of considerable complexity, we want to give a concrete signal marked by optimism towards the future. I thank the trade unions with whom relations continue to be one of esteem, respect and fruitful collaboration, always at the service of Intesa Sanpaolo's growth".

Riccardo Colombani, secretary general of First Cisl, the increase in hiring is “undoubtedly positive news, which confirms the bank's attention to social sustainability and bears witness to the importance of union relations marked by mutual respect and listening. In a moment marked by great concern for the stability of employment in our country, the hiring of a thousand more young people is an important signal. Generational turnover is essential to allow Intesa to achieve the growth objectives it has set itself".

More news arriving in the Intesa Sanpaolo group. On 1 January 2021, Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking transferred the business unit dedicated to providing the Asset Management service to Fideuram Investimenti SGR. The operation has led the company to become one of the main players at European level, with more than 40 billion assets under management. The bank communicates this in a note which also specifies that "again starting from 1 January 2021 Fideuram Investimenti SGR changed its name to FIDEURAM - Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking Asset Management - SGR, in abbreviated form Fideuram Asset Management SGR".
