You call them if you want "Stramaccioni". Forgive the Battistiana quote, but after a match filled with goals (even 9!) like the one at San Siro, the least one can do is give vent to creativity. The ups and downs in Milan leave us with one certainty: Inter are back alive and never mind if the Nerazzurri's gang still has many weak points. The Inter fans were only asking to come back and experience some shock between now and May 13, Moratti seems to have chosen the right path to satisfy them. The Champions League area is 7 points away, there are 24 points available: it's difficult, but not impossible. With this Milito the pillar of optimism grows, with this defense it suddenly drops. Stramaccioni's Inter doesn't offer certainties, but they are crazy again. After two months of general flatness, that's already something.
THE MATCH
As expected on the eve, Stramaccioni chooses the 4-3-3 to face Marino's Genoa, who responds with a mirror form. The novelty is all in the attacking trident, with Zarate, Milito and Forlan as the guns. The choice pays off, because Genoa start well, but defend badly, very badly indeed. In the 13th minute Inter did what they wanted and even managed to get the ball on target: Cambiasso cleared Zarate's heel, who cut from the right towards the center serving Forlan. El Cacha had all the time he wanted to aim and cross for Milito, who just had to head into the net. Marino gets furious, but the worst (for him) is yet to come. Indeed, in the 27th minute Genoa gave a perfect example of how they did NOT defend themselves, completely missing the offside and again leaving El Principe alone in front of Frey. The 2-0 is child's play, as is the third goal, which arrives in the 38th with Samuel, with practically unguarded goal. “This Serie A is too easy…” Stramaccioni must have thought, but he returns to the locker room with a slightly more bitter smile, after Moretti closes the gap on a corner kick. He signs of distractions, punctually confirmed from the start of the second half. In the 59th minute Zanetti hits the ball with his arm, for Valeri it's a penalty: Palacio makes no mistake, the match reopens (3-2). But Inter have the merit of not giving up and in the 74th minute they score a wonderful goal, the best of the match. Zarate collects the ball from the center right, converges and kicks a right-footed shot on goal "alla Del Piero". San Siro explodes, Stramaccione collects the first bet won. But Inter still wanted to suffer and so, at the 80th Palacio they were forgotten only in front of Julio Cesar. The Brazilian knocks him out, the referee awards the second penalty to Genoa and the inevitable red card. Gilardino shows up from the penalty spot, interrupting the withdrawal from the goal (4-3). San Siro was a crazy match and 5 minutes later Valeri awarded another penalty, this time to Inter, for a (questionable) foul by Belluschi (expelled) on Guarin, making his Nerazzurri debut. Milito made no mistake and scored a morale-boosting hat-trick. But there is no limit to Nerazzurri madness and in the 90th minute there is still room for another penalty, the 4th of the match (!), the 3rd for Genoa (!). Gilardino scores again, but the emotions end there. Inter celebrates, after more than two months San Siro is back to enjoying a home victory.
THE REACTIONS
The first to show up in front of the cameras is Massimo Moratti, finally happy: “Stramaccioni has had a good run with the Primavera, he deserved this opportunity. It's something new, even risky, but it makes players and clubs responsible. He is not a simple ferryman, if this is good for me he solves quite a few problems for the future ”. Important words, which made Andrea Stramaccioni happy: “I think president Moratti was very happy in the end, along with the rest of the family. I think the president chose me by madness, as far as he saw in me as a person, and for my ideas. It was a victory for the group, everyone gave their contribution, Julio who was forced to be there, Chivu who played on the left, Deki who did a great time and a half, Guarin who took over during the game. It's everyone's win. My desire is to think match after match, without drawing up programs because even the fans have heard too much these days. From Tuesday morning we will think about the next race”.
