Inps, early retirement: boom in applications in 2015 to escape the effects of the Fornero Law

2015 was the year of early retirement. This was reported by INPS as part of the 'Monitoring of retirement flows - current'.

According to what was declared by the National Social Security Institute, the weight of early pensions rises both in the Pension Fund for Employees (from 22% in 2014 to 34% in 2015) and in the management of self-employed workers, where the percentage rises from 17% to 25 %. Overall, compared to the previous year, the increase was 74%, from 85.207 in 2014 to 148.540 in 2015.

"The increase observed - explains the INPS - essentially depends on the new legislation introduced with law 214/2011 which, as known, has caused a blockage of seniority retirements by significantly increasing the contribution requirements for the right to early retirement, and in following which, therefore, only now has a large number of subjects been able to reach the greater seniority required for this type of treatment".

In other words, many Italians would have chosen to retire earlier to avoid the effects of the Fornero Law. In fact, since 1 January 2016, the requirements for access to the old-age pension have risen further: 42 years and 6 months of contributions for (41 years and 6 months for women).

INPS also underlines that the new old-age pensions fell from 153 thousand in 2014 to 149 thousand in 2015. Disability pensions also fell from 50 thousand in 2014 to 42 thousand in 2015, while allowances for survivors fell from 189 thousand in 2014. 183 to 2015 thousand in XNUMX.

At the same time, INPS has detected an increase in the average amount of the total of new checks disbursed, the figure of which rises from 839 to 1.003 euros per month thanks to the increase in the number of early pensions which, being linked to a career long contribution, are on average higher. The average amount of early pensions in 2015 was in fact 1.880 euros compared to 628 euros for old-age pensions, 779 euros for invalidity pensions and 650 euros for new survivors' pensions.
