Almost 500 billion. This is the cost of not building infrastructure in Italy. To say it are the three reports from the “Costs of Non-Doing” Observatory, directed by Prof. Andrea Gilardoni, now in its seventh edition and presented on Thursday 22 November in Rome, at Palazzo Marini, as part of the conference “Infrastructures: where does the country want to go? New rules and new priorities”.
The solution reached by the Observatory, through the analysis of some symbolic cases (the Rome - Milan high-speed railway line and the ultra-broadband network in Italy), is to unlock investment, adding to the financial regulations contained in the infrastructure package of the Monti Government, also some rules that go towards a path of simplification.
The presentation of the Studies was also an important occasion for discussions with the top management of the partner companies and the main operators in the sectors analysed.
