Istat has found that the industry's turnover in January increased by 1% compared to December, even if it fell on an annual basis – Orders, on the other hand, were good both on the year and on the month.

Il industry turnover in January it increases by 1% compared to December. This is what emerges from the Istat data which also report, on an annual basis, a 3,3% reduction in the raw data. Corrected for calendar effects (there were 19 working days against 20 in January 2015), total turnover shows a tendential decrease of 0,3%, the synthesis of a decrease of 0,6% on the domestic market and an increase in 0,3% on the foreign one. The orders instead they are up both on the month (+0,7%) and on the year (+0,1%, raw data).

The growth in turnover in January on a monthly basis records positive changes both on the domestic market (+1,2%) and on the foreign market (+0,4%). In terms of turnover, the most significant trend increase concerns the manufacture of means of transport (+13,9%) and the production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (+6,3%); while the greatest decrease affects the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-11,2%). The economic data show increases in turnover for capital goods (+1,6%), consumer goods (+1,0%) and intermediate goods (+0,8%) and a decrease for energy (-1,8 .1,4%). Lastly, Istat points out that the volume index of turnover, which is purged of the price component, shows an increase of 0,3% compared to December and of 2016% on average over the last three months compared to the previous three . Adjusted for calendar effects, in January 1,4 the turnover volume grew by XNUMX% on a year-on-year basis.

Also in this case, both the domestic (+0,6%) and foreign (+0,8%) markets contribute to the increase in orders. The most significant increases in January are recorded in manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products, electro-medical equipment (+24,6%), the manufacture of means of transport (+7,4%) and the manufacture of electrical appliances and non-electrical household appliances (+5%); while the greatest decline is observed in metallurgy (-6,4%).
