Ilva, Am Investco reduces redundancies to 4.200

The Am Investco consortium (led by ArcelorMittal and Marcegaglia), which was awarded the Ilva of Taranto, is ready to hire 10 workers, thus reducing the redundancies to 4.200. The representatives of the government told the unions according to what reported by the number one of Uilm, Rocco Palombella. The redundancies would thus be reduced by 1.300 units, given that in the first plan presented they were to be 5.500.

This is what emerged during the meeting at Palazzo Chigi between metalworkers' unions and the government on the future of Ilva in Taranto after the award of the plant to Am Investco Italy (Arcelor Mittal-Marcegaglia) and the announcement of a slimming cure with thousands of redundancies. This was reported by the unions themselves at the end of the meeting. The objective of the unions remains to further reduce the number. 

"The government - commented the general secretary of Fim-Cisl, Marco Bentivogli, at the end of the meeting at Palazzo Chigi - has come the willingness to amend the Marzano law so that, if the buyer proves to be in default from the point of view of investments, it is possible to resume ownership by the extraordinary administration even during a sale process”.
