I Cotoni di Albini: growing turnover and reduction of delivery times

I Cotoni di Albini, a company of the Albini Group specialized in the research and development of raw materials and yarns, after closing 2016 with a turnover of almost 20 million euros (up 14,3%) confirmed for 2017 a more than 10% positive. Extremely interesting results resulting not only from the recent reorganization and optimization with the transfer to Mornico al Serio (Bg) at the Filatura Prealpina factory, but also from the synergies and mutual exchange of know-how with the Albini Group.

Thanks to this reorganization, the company further strengthens the direct control of the entire production chain, from raw materials to the finished fabric, which is unique in the shirt textile sector and allows to trace and control each production step, guaranteeing product quality, service, fast responses and maximum innovation at every stage of the process.?

“The objective of the recent reorganization – explains the managing director of I Cotoni di Albini, Daniele Arioldi – was in fact to make production more flexible and faster in order to be able to promptly respond to the needs of the market which requires more and more diversified items, small and reduced lead times. 80% of the requests are satisfied just in time, but – continues Arioldi – we are also able to deliver exclusive yarns, customized to the customer's needs with fast times. Born to produce yarns for the Group, I Cotoni di Albini has gradually opened up to the knitwear market, top-level hosiery, household linen and quality furnishings, bringing the share of turnover from customers other than the Group Albinos at over 60%”.

The international vocation typical of the Albini Group is also confirmed in I Cotoni di Albini with an export share of 50% (subtracting the share of turnover deriving from the Group); this thanks to a commercial structure with fixed agents in all European countries to be strategically and constantly close to the customers.

The reference customers all belong to the high end of the market, but differ greatly in terms of business model (from large retailers to small specialized brands) and reference sector (from knitwear to hosiery). I Cotoni di Albini shares the same values as the Albini Group such as the wide range of innovative and high quality products, maximum attention to the customer, reliability and continuous research and development on raw materials. The supply of yarns reflects in all respects the same characteristics of traceability and uniqueness of the Albini fabrics.

“The excellent integration between the Albini Group and the subsidiary I Cotoni di Albini – explains the president of the Group, Silvio Albini – has generated a fruitful cross fertilization, which has translated for the Group itself into know-how of return on raw materials and on the alternative uses of the yarns very useful, for an increasingly sophisticated and innovative offer to the advantage not only of Cotonificio Albini, the main Client of this division, but increasingly also of a large number of qualified external Clients. With the turnaround of the yarn division, a new business model has been created which allows greater efficiency and flexibility and greater added value for a niche production, but capable of offering all spinning technologies”.

The products offered on the market are positioned in the high range, divided into three main categories: a part of basic 100% cotton yarns in fine and very fine counts, a part of yarns composed of cellulosic fibers (micro modal, micro tencel) always in very fine, and finally a range of yarns obtained from intimate blends composed, depending on the case, of cotton, linen, hemp, silk, cashmere, vicuña, wool, to create a unique product of its kind, of the highest range, intended for different sectors. Fundamental to the growth of I Cotoni di Albini is innovation, innovative or unusual blends, an extremely wide range of counts (from 12/1 to 160/1), close collaboration with machine manufacturers and customers, as well as great activity research entirely carried out internally.
