Niko Romito, the Abruzzo chef with three Michelin stars, three Espresso hats, and much more, remains firmly in the lead among the great Italian restaurants, with his Reale di Castel di Sangro restaurant in the 2022 edition of the Gambero Rosso restaurant guide which places him at first place with a score of 96.
Romito beats two great protagonists of Italian catering by a length, the three-starred Massimo Bottura who with his Hosteria Francescana in Modena has been awarded several times as the best restaurant in the world by The World's 50 best restaurants, and Heinz Beck of La Pergola de l' Hilton a historic presence at the top of Italian catering excellence.

Basically there are no big news for the three main podiums compared to the 2020 edition, the last one in which the scores were assigned, suspended last year for Pandemic reasons. Conversely, Don Alfonso 1890 and Enoteca Pinchiorri rise in the standings, placing themselves in the small patrol which is placed in fourth position with a score of 92.
Angiolina di Pisciotta (SA), Antica Osteria del Mirasole with Locanda in San Giovanni in Persiceto (BO) and Antichi Sapori di Andria (BT) also maintain their leading position in the category of I Tre Gamberi
The thirty-second edition of Gambero Rosso's Restaurants of Italy guide reviews 2700 establishments with 245 new entries. Good sign of recovery is that the Three Forks increase in this edition (41) with four new entries in the Olympus of Italian cuisine, as well as the Tre Gamberi which pass to 32, with a new entry. 11 establishments earn Three Bottles, the Three Globes are 4, the Three Coccotte 3 and the Three Boccali 4.
