Greece the crisis is hard, AAA rent Parthenon

The government of Athens ready to decide to grant the most significant sites of its archaeological heritage – For the modest sum of 1600 euros per day it will be possible to film in the Parthenon or Delphi – Fury among archaeologists.

Greece the crisis is hard, AAA rent Parthenon

There really is a need for cash in Athens. In moments of crisis like this, with the formidable and extremely unpopular delegates of the Troika (EU, ECB and IMF) making the loudest voice in the palaces of power, even a few thousand euros can make a difference, above all if it is a matter of defending a important archaeological site such as the Greek one. From today it will therefore be possible to rent the most evocative settings of ancient Greece, such as the Parthenon or the temple of Delphi, to use them as a backdrop for advertising photographs or film shoots.

The rates, quite accessible, will start from €1600 per day. The funds will be used to finance the budget, now reduced to the bone, of the Greek Ministry of Culture. Due to the crisis, the department's funds have been cut by 30% and the ruins, due to unpaid salaries to the employees and poor maintenance, risk succumbing to neglect.

It is hoped that a dissemination of images of the monuments will give the world a more positive image of the country. Yet the news has aroused the indignation of Greek archaeologists. The Parthenon, in its millennial history, has only been allowed for filming twice: to FF Coppola and for “My Life in ruins, 2009) sequel to the success “My fat big Greek wedding” with the beloved Greek-American star Nia Vardalos. To try to get out of the dark alley of the crisis, Greece turns to her glorious past, and who knows if Phidias and Pericles will be able to help save their beloved Athens.
