Two positive news in a few hours for the Greece, which received the yes of the German parliament by return of post to the third aid package and full IMF adherence to the bailout plan. In this way, the German parliament mandated the finance minister Wolfgang Scheuble to take part in the negotiations on a new aid programme. Schaeuble who, however, warned that this rescue attempt will also be the last in which Germany will take part.
According to the German finance minister, Greece will have to face radical reforms and this could be a problem "because everything that was started in the last six months was then cancelled". Now, concluded Schaeuble, "it's up to Athens to act".
As for the International Monetary Fund, the general director Christine Lagarde said the Fund is ready to participate "fully" in the Greek economy rescue package, in order to make Athens' debt sustainable, thus allowing the Greek market to restart.
For Lagarde, it remains crucial to move towards Greek debt relief, not necessarily in the form of a cut, but possibly in the form of a significant extension of maturities.
