Young people, the job of the future is biotech

The biotech sector, already very vital today in a stagnant economy, seems destined to grow further in the next few years and could represent a particularly thriving job opportunity for young Italians and beyond.

Young people, the job of the future is biotech

The growth of the biotech sector could represent a credible future for many young Italians, and beyond. In Italy, in fact, biotech ranks at levels of excellence on the international front, with 176 companies engaged in the pharmaceutical sector alone, which register investments exceeding one billion euros and employ around 5 people.

Numbers which, according to what has been reported, seem destined to grow further: if to date, in fact, 50% of national drugs under development are purely biotech, their share should exceed 75% in 2025.

But nano-technologies applied to biology also affect other sectors, among which the industrial, medical and agricultural sectors stand out. As for investment, for example, the United States spends about 22 billion dollars each year on biotech research and development.

The president of the Farmindustria Biotechnology Group, Eugenio Aringhieri, also spoke about biotech and prospects for the youngest: “The future lies in biotech which, in many cases, represents the main hope for innovative therapies to find solutions to health questions still open".

“Our sector – he continues – is fueled by research, by the ability to generate answers to still open health questions and in all of this young people play a very important role because research is fueled by creativity, creative disobedience, passion, which are all characteristics of boys”.
