Fs, Donnarumma: “Invest in safety to defend infrastructure”

“To protect the physical and IT security of organizations ideas are not enough, but Investment is needed to protect sensitive infrastructure“. With these words, the CEO of the FS Group, Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, stressed theimportance of a targeted strategy for the protection of physical and IT security of companies. The intervention took place during the presentation of the results of the First Security Risk Observatory, held at the auditorium of Villa Patrizi in Rome on the occasion of Safer Internet Day.

In his speech, Donnarumma highlighted how in recent years companies have developed a growing awareness of cyber risks. “Today, however, it is not enough to be aware of the threats: need translate this sensitivity into concrete actions, developing an increasingly solid and reactive safety culture,” he said, also referring to recent incidents involving the group.

The results of the Security Risk Observatory

The survey, conducted by the Italian Association of Corporate Security Professionals in collaboration with TEHA Group (The European House Ambrosetti), has involved approximately 200 industry experts to identify the main threats and investment priorities needed to ensure corporate security.

From the data collected it emerges that the main threats to businesses are data attacks (35%), physical security breaches (27%) and ransomware (26%). In particular, the latter are the most damaging from an economic point of view, with an estimated impact of 0,87% on company turnover. They are followed by supply chain attacks, which account for 0,82%, and data-related threats, with an impact of 0,69%. As regards physical risks, natural disasters represent a major new concern, with a potential impact of up to 0,68% of turnover.

Business Challenges: Ransomware and Climate Events

The Observatory's analysis also revealed that the Type of threats varies depending on the size of the company. For companies with a turnover less than one billion euros, ransomware represents the main threat. For medium and large-sized companies, with revenues between 1 and 10 billion euros, the most significant risk is linked to extreme weather events.
