Renewable sources and energy from biomass, here is the study by the SRM

The Study and Research Center for Southern Italy, Srm, has published the third number of its series dedicated to renewable sources: "Energy from biomass, sectoral and territorial analysis" - The analysis highlights a sector in constant growth, both in terms of to plants, both in terms of installed power: from 2006 respectively +120% and +87%.

Renewable sources and energy from biomass, here is the study by the SRM
It was published on third issue of the series of SRM, the Study and Research Center for Southern Italy, entitled: "Energy from biomass, sectoral and territorial analysis", dedicated to renewable sources. The theme of renewables is increasingly topical, as the growth recorded in the renewables sector can play a key role in the transformation of the global energy system.

Biomass, in particular, represents a renewable and clean energy source which, like others, it can contribute to the commitments undertaken by Italy at the Community level. In fact, we must never forget that the energy sector is involved in achieving national energy objectives between now and 2020.

The document offers a sectoral and territorial analysis of the biomass sector which shows very positive development trends. Over the past five years SRM's study shows constant growth of this sector, both in reference to the number of plants and in consideration of the installed power: compared to 2006, in particular, growth rates of around 120% and 87% respectively were recorded.

In particular, the work reports a brief overview of the world and European production from bioenergy and an analysis of the national situation of the sector, the latter referring both to the statistical aspect and to the regulatory one linked to the incentive possibilities addressed to this source.

From a statistical point of view, the data analyzed take into consideration the main supply chains that characterize the sector; it's about the solid biomass (which are directly used for the production of energy), dei biodegradable waste, bioliquids and biogas (which provide for the preventive conversion of the biomass to a liquid or gaseous state).

Not missing a regional analysis with reference to all areas of the South, as well as Lazio and Lombardy, taken into consideration as benchmarks; an in-depth analysis of the incentive system and the regulatory context. Finally, the study proposes some estimates of the economic impact linked to the development of the sector, in terms of employees, added value and investments.
