Fincantieri: agreement signed on Porto Sestri Ponente, Uilm and Fiom do not sign

The green light is official for the program agreement for the capsize at sea of Fincantieri in Sestri Ponente, signed this afternoon by the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Infrastructure, Fincantieri, the Liguria Region, the Province and Municipality of Genoa, the Port Authority and Porto Petroli. Thanks to the agreement, a new operating yard of 117 square meters will therefore be available, created with the filling of a body of water of 71 square meters between Sestri Ponente and Multedo and the setting up of new structures and systems for naval-mechanical activities . The construction of the work required a loan of 50 million euros, to which must be added another 20 million from the allocation of resources from the fund for port infrastructures and an investment of about 50 million by Porto Petroli Spa. Minister Romani has underlined that "the government has maintained its commitment with workers and local administrations, safeguarding a strategic sector such as shipbuilding and confirming the executive's commitment for a very precise and punctual presence for the future of each site". On the trade union front, however, there is a division: Fiom and Uilm have declared the impossibility of signing an agreement which, in their opinion, was not preceded by an adequate discussion. The agreement came after three years of work and is considered by the subjects involved "a key tool for reorganising, expanding and optimizing the potential of the port infrastructures and functionalities of the area which involves the spaces of Fincatieri and Sestri Ponente and Porto Petroli ”.
