Fincantieri delivers a new ship to Carnival

Wednesday, on the Friulian coast of Monfalcone, Fincantieri has delivered a new cruise ship to Princess Cruises, the group's shipping company Carnival. The boat, named "Enchanted Princess”, is the hundredth produced by the Italian company in the last thirty years, but also the eighteenth unit built by Fincantieri for Princess Cruises in the Isonzo shipyard.

In a note, the naval group explains that "Enchanted Princess" has a gross tonnage of 145 tons and the capacity to accommodate up to 4.610 passengers on board in 1.830 cabins, as well as 1.411 crew members. The project is the same already used for Royal Princess, Regal Princess, Majestic Princess and Sky Princess, also built in the Monfalcone shipyard starting from 2013, and will also be followed for the new ship of the same class, Discovery Princess, which will be delivered in 2021.

“With the delivery, we officially welcome Enchanted Princess to the Princess family, sealing the strong bond between Carnival Corporation, Princess Cruises and Fincantieri, our reference partner,” he said. Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises – Fincantieri shares our same spirit aimed at offering the highest level of excellence and we know that he will also share the enthusiasm and pride we will feel when the ship welcomes its first guests”.

Secondo Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, “Enchanted Princess is a special ship. In fact, it is the first cruise ship that we have delivered post-Covid, and it is also the hundredth that Fincantieri has built in the last thirty years. We believe she represents the best embodiment of the ability to face the most difficult times with passion and dedication, as well as the historic resilience of our industry. I therefore want to wish the wind in the sails to this umpteenth jewel that we have completed, to the friends of Princess with whom we have collaborated successfully, and to all the workers in the cruise industry, with the trust that the restart has already begun".

The relationship between the Monfalcone shipyard and Princess Cruises will continue with two next-generation cruise ships of 175.000 gross tonnage, which will be the largest built in Italy. Deliveries are scheduled for late 2023 and spring 2025. The units will accommodate around 5.300 passengers and will be the first in the shipowner's fleet to be primarily fueled by liquefied natural gas.
