Lighthouses, State ready to grant 11 towers in concession: many will become hotels

Eleven lighthouses to be given in concession to enhance some of the jewels of the Italian coasts. The State property agency, in fact, together with the Ministry of Defence, will grant the towers to operators who can develop a tourist project with high potential for the territories, in a logic of public-private partnership and for the benefit of the whole community. The concessions, aimed at protecting and enhancing a heritage that is too often abandoned, could last up to 50 years.

At the end of the online public consultation phase that is being held these days and will last until August 10, the calls for tenders will therefore be published, which will allow the agency to select the operators.

The first 11 headlights which will be given in concession are the Brucoli Lighthouse in Augusta and the Murro di Porco Lighthouse in Syracuse; Capo Grosso on the island of Levanzo – Favignana (Trapani); Punta Cavazzi in Ustica; Capo d'Orso in Maiori (Salerno); Punta Imperatore in Forio d'Ischia; San Domino alle Tremiti (Foggia), Punta del Fenaio and that of Capel Rosso on the island of Giglio; Ants of Grosseto and Capo Rizzuto (Crotone). They will be delivered already with the change of intended use, i.e. with as few bureaucratic hitches as possible on the horizon. Which means immediately usable.

Among the most probable transformations, the one in stands out luxury hotel, as has already happened for Capo Spartivento in Sardinia, for which the State collects a fee of 100 thousand euros a year. From the concession of the eleven lighthouses in question (7 from the State Property, 4 from the Ministry of Defence) the estimated revenue is around 700-800 euros a year.
