Factoring, Italy is growing: here is the ranking of the banks

The Italian factoring market ended 2016 with a total turnover of over 200 billion euros, for a growth of 9,53% compared to 2016. This is what emerges from the first statistics compiled by Assifact, the Italian association for Factoring.

Compared to the already positive forecasts formulated by sector operators during the surveys carried out in the last quarter of 2016, the final figure almost doubled the estimate.

The statistical processing by Assifact indicates an increase in all the values that measure the strength of the factoring market: as at 31 December 2016, the amount of outstanding credits recorded a +6,12% compared to 12 months before and the payments to companies a +8,43%.

The strong growth of factoring in 2016 occurred without compromising the levels of non-performing loans and non-performing loans, which remained contained and much lower than other forms of business financing.

In particular, the portion of non-performing loans, calculated with respect to the gross total of factoring exposures, is equal to 3,20%, substantially in line with the previous year; while the percentage of non-performing loans, equal to 6,67%, is even lower than in 2015.

Assifact also publishes the ranking of companies active in factoring based on market shares.
